The Bismarck Palm is one of the most striking and majestic palm trees. Its large, silvery-blue, fan-shaped leaves form a bold, upright crown that immediately draws attention. This plant thrives in as much light as possible and is best placed in direct sunlight by a bright window. It prefers a moist but well-drained indoor potting mix enriched with composted organic matter and added drainage material. Growth is moderate during the growing season, with light watering required once several centimetres of soil have dried; excess water must drain freely. It has moderate maintenance needs, as incorrect care can quickly cause stress. Cold-tender, the plant can eventually reach over 10m in height with a spread of around 5m in ideal conditions.
